KYU was founded in 2004 after the disbanding of Dimension Seven, two former members of Dimension Seven recruited two new members to start a new band and KYU saw the light.

KYU is a nu-death-core formation from Arnhem/Tiel the Netherlands, with its own sound and musical influences. The songs are embedded with dissapointment, rage, frustration, hatred and violence. In other words: these songs will shred you to dice.

Having just recorded their first CD "STTNNRMLLLFCKDP", featuring nine songs, the band is now raging to hit the stage!

"Ooit was Dimension Seven een verrassende en overweldigende band uit Arnhem. Maar al na een paar jaar en een paar mooie producties hield de band ermee op en leken de Arnhemmers van het podium te zijn verdwenen. Enter KYU, waarmee twee oud-DS-leden het weer flikken. Met drummer Roy en gitarist en nu zanger Bastard in de gelederen hebben ze met "STTNNRMLLLFCKDP" een intigrerende en vooral supervette plaat gebakken. Nu-death-metalcore noemen de leden het zelf. Misschien is dat nog te weinig eer. De mannen hebben een eigen genre en dus ook geheel eigen geluid gecreëerd, ook al doen met name het gitaargeluid en sommige runts wat denken aan Gorefest. Echt indrukwekkend sterk. Loom, laag strak, beuken, heerlijke riffs, goede zang, onheilspellende intermezzo's en vooral muziek die live - indien goed uitgevoerd - zal inslaan als een motherfucking' bom. Geestig is dat alle nummers op de plaat alleen maar titels hebben als "BLDLST" en "P". Dit maakt de plaat nog zieker dan ie al was. Het lekkere is de afwisseling tussen loom, zelfs traag en supersnel agressief gebeuk. Vergelijk "NMBRNN" maar eens met "RSFST". Of laat je eens meeslepen met het supergroovy "SNGFHT". Onvoorstelbaar goed. Hopen dat deze band het langer volhoudt dan zijn voorganger. Frank Helmink"

"The music doesn't really remind of lots of other bands. Kyu manages to create quite a unique mixture of nu/death metal with some hardcore influences that certainly appeals!"

"They totally have a distinctive sound, but when listening to the songs names like Meshuggah, Soulfly, Fear Factory (the first album, without the industrial sampling), old Machine Head, Textures, Sepultura (“Chaos. A.D.” era) and within some structures even Confessor pop up in my mind. So you can expect contrary-and broken rhythms, pounding low-tuned guitars, hate-filled growls, breakdowns, bursting grooves and violent mosh-parts. I said before you need a healthy dose of aggression, but when reading the lyrics one could say the amount of aggression reaches an unhealthy sick status, haha. The words all drip of desperation, losing hope, mutilation, hate, the battle between sanity and insanity. A song like for instance ‘BLDLST’ could have been inspired by the Japanese splatter movie Ichi the Killer. The pace in general is kept between mid and up tempo except for ‘NMBRNN’ which almost sound like despairing doom, but with the fastest song ‘RSFST’ following up the band keeps the variety high! Since the nine songs only take around half an hour, the attention and tension keeps you sharp until the bitter end! Marc Ter Braak was responsible for the great production and together with cool artwork this “STTNNRMLLLFCKDP” turned out a very impressive and astonishing debut! To go back to the Japanese graduating I say this sounds like Kyu have passed their exam and achieved the first kyu (brown belt). Reaching the black belt seems only a matter of time!"

"Het nummer dat met kop en schouders boven de rest uitsteekt is NMBRNN dat halverwege STTNNRMLLFCKDP staat. Met NMBRNN weet Kyu mij te raken. Een redelijk uniek gegeven, want de laatste keer dat een metalband mij wist te raken was Machine Head met hun nummer Down To None uit 1997. Bastard (zang/gitaar), Roy (drums), Rule (gitaar) en PG (bas) bewijzen met STTNNRMLLLFCKDP dat ze prima metalmuzikanten zijn. Niets op aan te merken. "
